JONATHAN BROOKS (Jonny)
Jonny grew up in North QLD fishing for Barramundi, he's been known to try his hand at fly fishing and is a seasoned boat fisho. He is the newest member of the MTF family, always wearing his heart on his sleeve you can just see how much connecting with pelagics off the rocks means to him. Pretty hard not to get caught up in his contagious enthusiasm as it reminds you how bloody awesome this style of fishing really is and why you got into it in the first place. Jonny's been spinning for two decades but somehow froths even harder now than when he was a grommet! His love for fishing embodies the heart and soul of Morningtide and to be honest, we don't know what we ever did without him! Current Setup - Shimano Stella 14000SWB XG on a Zenaq Defi Muthos 100MH with WFT 39KG Strong Line.

DANIEL MUTKINS
Mutkins grew up spinning estuaries and river mouths that had an extreme level of fishing pressure, because of this he was forced to develop a hyper sensitive attention to detail in his fishing. Dan's highly developed skills are now being applied to Catch and Release off the rocks. It's great to see how all that knowledge can momentarily go out the window in a crescendo of screams each time he gets a big hook up! Also studying to be a marine scientist he hopes to shape a new future for recreational fishermen in Australia. Current Setup - Okuma Azores Z-55S on a Williamson Shore Pro with WFT 22kg Strong Line.

RYOTA SEGAWA
When he was young Ryota would watch National Geographic and absolutely froth out on the strange and wonderful creatures of our planet, it was no surprise that he took a particular interest in fish! As he grew his father would take him fly fishing for Bass and Trout, instilling in him a fundamental respect for the fish they caught and released. Fast forward to today and he's now targeting large predatory species from shore! Under the guise of finishing his Masters Degree he moved from Japan to New Zealand, but the true reason is all too obvious to us, he wants to catch and release the biggest Yellowtail Kingfish the world has to offer! When we first met Ryota we were not only blown away by his respect for fish and the environment but also his achievements in landing huge Kingfish from the rocks, needless to say we just had to have him as part of the Morningtide Family! Current Setup – Shimano Twinpower 10000PG on a 9’6 Prototype Rod or a Shimano Revolution Offshore 802 with 130lb Suffix Braid and 200lb Varivas Leader.
